  • If you choose Sign up with Google, it will prompt you to log in with your Google account.
  • If you choose Sign up with Email, you will input your email address and choose a password with at least 6 characters. You will receive an email to verify your account and get started with ProjectionLab.

Set Up: Normal Walkthrough

The normal walkthrough takes 5-10 minutes as you enter your information on a step-by-step tour. We recommend this option when trying to build your real plan because you will input your personal financial data to create a plan tailored to your unique situation.

Step 1: About You

You can add some basic information here including:

  • Planning as an individual or a couple
  • Birth month and birth year (i.e. January 1990)
  • Your location (i.e. California, United States)
  • Display currency (i.e. US Dollar)

Note

Input something incorrectly? You can change this later by going to Current Finances > About You and updating the information at any time.

Step 2: Enter Your Current Finances

Now, you’ll input details about your current finances, including your savings, investments, real assets like homes and cars, and debt like student loans.

For example, you can add a $25,000 savings account that belongs to you, then click Confirm to save it.

Note

ProjectionLab ensures your data remains private and secure. Want to learn more? Check out our data security article.

Step 3: Enter ProjectionLab

Once you have entered your details you will go to the ProjectionLab homepage. You’ll see a prompt for the welcome tour in the top left corner. We recommend checking this out to make the most of all the tools at your fingertips!

Now you are all set up in ProjectionLab and ready to create your financial projections.

Set Up: Sandbox Mode

As an alternative, sandbox mode takes about 1 minute to set up and uses a pre-populated account based on an example persona. This mode allows you to explore features in ProjectionLab, but is not recommended for building your real plan.

Step 1: Choose an example persona

Options include:

  • US: high school student, recent grad/single, early career/married, mid career/high debt, mid career/married, and late career/single
  • UK: early career and mid career
  • Canada: late career
  • Australia: early career

For example, choose Recent Grad, Single > Confirm. You’ll arrive at the ProjectionLab dashboard and see information relevant to your chosen persona.

Tip

Want to change to a different persona? In the top right corner click the box icon to switch to another sandbox example.
